Byakugan
The Byakugan is the Dōjutsu of the Hyuga Clan, seemingly being more coveted than the Sharingan by Konoha's enemies. When activated, the veins on the wielder's temples bulge, visibly, and the pupils become more distinct. Constant abilities from user to user include the ability to see the flow of chakra and three-hundred sixty vision, save for a small blind spot at the back of the neck above the third thoracic vertebra. Once activated, the one who wields the Dōjutsu gains a fifty meter range of vision, which is the base range from person to person. As its insight surpasses the Sharingan's, the Byakugan is able to perceive through corporeal clones, clones chakra levels higher or lower than the caster, basic position masking maneuvers such as smokescreens, and techniques that would normally hide a person's location. On top of that, the eye can also perceive the chakra pathway system, and it can discern if a person is under Genjutsu due to disruptions in said person's chakra. Aside from these generic abilities, there are a couple that are variable from person to person, and they will be further discussed below.
Distance
Although each Byakugan comes equipped with an inherent, fifty meter range upon activation, this range can be extended through time and training, and this is where the "distance" aspect of the eye comes in. In order to achieve the larget distances, one would have to have training in this area. With Hinata as a reference point, those who focus on distance will lose out on precision, which refers to ones ability to perceive the chakra network with the eye. This will also be affected by other things, such as your specialties and your focuses. The only exception to having distance impede on precision is the clan leader.
Precision
The aspect of precision refers not to ones ability to accurately perceive the quantity of things in ones line of vision, but the ability to perceive the chakra network. Only those who are focused in precision will be able to see the tenketsu, and in rare cases, one may achieve the ability to see even the Eight Gates of the body. As the Main Family are the only ones who train in the art of attacking tenketsu though, they will be the only ones able to achieve perception (although exceptions can be made). With Neji as a reference point, the trade-off of perception is distance, and one with perception can never hope to achieve the greater distances that the Dōjutsu offers. This can also be affected by ones specialties and focuses. The only exception to having precision impede on distance is the clan leader.
