Sharingan

The Sharingan is the powerful Dōjutsu of the Uchiha Clan of the Hidden Leaf. The eye comes in a total of three-tomoe, with each of its abilities growing stronger with the number of tomoe that are gained. Initially, the Sharingan must be unlocked under a very stressful circumstance; however, for the following tomoe, they can be unlocked through intense training, stressful circumstances, or a combination of both. Among its abilities, the eye possesses the ability to see the flow of chakra. It is a useful supplementary tool that allows an Uchiha to tell if their ally is in a Genjutsu or to differentiate between the color of elements; however, this ability is the only constant between those who wield the eye. For this reason, this thread is here to supply information, insight, and ruling to the other areas of the Sharingan's abilities.

Eye of Insight (洞察眼, "Dōsatsugan")

The Eye of Insight is the part of the Sharingan's abilities that is attribute to the Dōjutsu's incredible clarity of perception. This can range from being able to perceive through Genjutsu to being able to being able to perceive the movements of objects and people. Subtle details can also be identified, granting the wielder of the eye the ability to read lips or mimic things like pencil movements. At higher levels, this also grants the wielder of the Dōjutsu the ability to copy Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, or Genjutsu by memorizing the composition of the technique. However, while this is a powerful ability, it is not a constant, and it differs from person to person. If the wielder of the Sharingan has a greater focus in the Saimingan, the Dōsatsugan will be lower. The Dōsatsugan's strength will also be variable to your Taijutsu specialty, and depending on where it is placed, the Dōsatsugan may also suffer. When copying other techniques, you are also limited to what you know, meaning there may be things that you can't copy, and if you can copy something, you may not have it at full strength.. If you do copy a technique though, you do not have to pay for it in EXP; just notify a staff member of the thread and the technique will be added.

Eye of Hypnotism (催眠眼, "Saimingan")

The Eye of Hypnotism is the part of the Sharingan that is attribute to its Genjutsu capabilities. It is by this ability that the wielder of the Dōjutsu is able to cast the Sharingan's unique brand of hypnosis, which involves suggesting actions and thoughts to the target through eye contact. Through the Saimingan, one is also able to cast Genjutsu techniques unique to the Sharingan. They can also case generic Genjutsu whose effects may include either paralysis, sleep, or replaying memories to another. Ones strength with the Saimingan, like its counterpart, is not constant, for it is variable from person to person. One of the variables that will play into a person's skill with the Saimingan is their skill with the Dōsatsugan, for if you have access to the other, the abilities of the Saimingan will decline. Moreover, the Saimingan will also be heavily dictated by ones Genjutsu specialty, and it will suffer even more depending on where the specialty is placed. Only those who master the Saimingan and Genjutsu will have mastery over the Sharingan's Genjutsu and hypnosis capabilities.

Mangekyō Sharingan

The Mangekyō Sharingan is the most powerful evolution of the Sharingan accessible to all wielders. It can only be achieved by witnessing firsthand the death of the person closest to the Sharingan wielder. More than that, the death must be felt, and so killing the person closest to you will rarely, if ever, grant you this power, hence the failure of past generations. Once achieved, a person's abilities with the Dōjutsu will increase. For example, if you have an "A" grade skill in your Dōsatsugan and a "B" grade skill in your Saimingan, both skills will increase a rank while the Mangekyō is active. From what we've seen in canon, you will only have one ability for your Mangekyō, and that ability will be present in both eyes. The only exception to this is if you have the potential for Susano'o, which will require the trio of Amaterasu and Tsukyomi. By using the techniques of the Mangekyō Sharingan, the wielder's eyesight will deteriorate over time, and eventually, the eyes will go blind and the Sharingan will be inaccessible. However, one can eliminate this downside by transplanting the eyes of another Uchiha, which grants access to the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan--a combination of both eyes in design. However, the success rate of gaining the EMS is variable to how close the two Uchiha in question are in relation. For non-Uchiha, the blindness of the Mangekyō Sharingan does not apply; however, the EMS can not be obtained by them either.
